Battery Drained-need help identify the part

Hello,

I am having a battery drained with my truck but before I do a troubleshooting and pulling off all the fuses, I think I knew what it was.

So the picture that I am attached aren't the best but under the colored circle, there was silver looking long tube under the green cover (the tube is not visible). I noticed when I shut off my truck, it keeps making like a hydraulic noise even though my engine isnt running.

I think there was a short circuit somewhere to make that silver tube thing keeps moving.

I hope I explained it enough if not I can remove the cover from the hood to take a better picture.

Thanks!

Are you sure it is not the hydraulic brake booster (which would be directly below your circled area so it may be the real cause of the noise you are hearing) running to keep the brake pressure up (possibly due to an electrical malfunction?) Not sure if your year and model have the hydraulic brake booster motor like the Gen 3 /Gen 3.5's do so just a possible guess...

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
___We don't have hydraulic boosters on Gen 2's, under that area is the wiper linkages. Maybe your wiper motor is getting a slight signal to run, not sure about the wiper motor specifically BUT a lot of the Montero has ground turn on parts SO if that is the case with the motor it could be getting a slight ground signal and moving ever so slightly (moisture where it shouldn't be, wire rubbing through).

___Things to try; pull the plug and listen, cycle the wiper switch with the key on to listen for a change in sound and if it seems this is your problem disassemble the unit, clean it and reinstall it. If the problem continues, see if it happens with the motor isolated from the truck (not bolted to a ground source) it that doesn't work try tracing the wires and looking for the root of the problem, test the switch and replace parts as necessary.

Hope that helps.
