BBQ Box for single burner stove

I use one of these, but on my Campchef stove. I probably BBQ more on it than anything else I do on a stove, except morning coffee!! :coffeedrink:

I think the issue you'd have using it on a regular Coleman stove would be the output of the burner. Campchef burners are 30,000btu and Coleman is only 12,000btu as I recall. That's a huge difference. I don't think the Coleman would put out enough serious heat thru the diffusers on the BBQ box to get the cast iron grill on the Campchef BBQ box hot enough to cook effectively. Just my $.02.

the thermal recovery of the cast iron will be slower with less BTU- If you stick to slightly thinner items that have come up to room temp, it should be ok. Problem is a big thick steak may sear only a little on the outside.. once. Then the heat may not be enough to recovery- so 40 degree steak +400 degree cast iron =instant heat loss. Like putting an ice cube on a BBQ grill. If the Ice cube is big, and the bbq grill only has a few coals... ice cube will win.

If you do more hibachi style, not that much heat is needed because everything is "quickly cooked".
