Beach Tire

Hi I am looking for advice for good Beach Tires.

I have Kodiak 5500 4x4. My truck and camper loaded weighs 17,000. (GVW of truck 19,200). The current tires are 245/70/r19.5 load range G. I asked others how a load rated "G"----19.5" tire when "Aired down" would handle the beach
sand...The consences is they know of No One running 19.5 load rated "G" tires running the beach because the side walls are so stiff they do NOT squart to give you the additional "FootPrint" you need to go over the sand.

The beach is Sandy Neck on the Cape 65 miles away.

I am sure a large number of dually owners are running large singles on the rear . I will also use two sets of wheels and tires. The stock tires for everyday and a second set for the Beach. I am prepared to run two different size tires for the front and rear(I have enough room to carry two spare tires).
Thanks for your advice

How about something along the lines of the Dakar chase trucks? Wide tall AT Michelins singled on both ends?

You're right, there are no good 19.5 beach solutions. Super singles may be okay for short distance beach driving. However, at highway speeds they are often very loud. Also, they're not readily available so using them for long distance trips may be an issue.

If you go with two sets of wheels and tires you may have suspension and gearing issues if the two solutions are different diameters. There are commercial 22.5 floation tires that could work as an everyday option.

Post picks of your rig and more details on the mix of intended trips. We'll see what we can come up with.

They were taken at the Northeast Truck Campers Spring Jamboree. The camper is still work in progress. When finsished and I get some time I will post before, during and after photes. Camper started as Wildwood 5th wheel. Besides being used as a camper. It can be converted into a flatbed, rack body or dump. Thanks for you help in my quest for tires.

thanks joe
