Does anyone make a mount hat holds the tire vertically? I was thinking of mounting the spare in my flatbed and would like it lengthwise behind the cab.

where do you live? I could make a vertical tire holder for you...

I would be interested in the source for the cross shaped wedge shown in this link. Tiregate is not the mfg's of it. The TrailBlazer trailer has one on it and being urethane it is a really nice part for the use. Unfortunately whom ever makes it did not mold their name into the part.

Yes, that would be sturdier. Personally, I would rather have the plate on the underside of the bed but that may not be possible depending where you want the tire to be located and if there are any support beams. Eitherway, I'm sure its more than sturdy enough.
