Bed Rug

Hey

I am toying with the idea of putting a bed rug in the back of my F150. Has anyone used this product? what is your thoughts? How about any alternative suggestions.

I am planning on building a 48" x 78" box/sleeping platform for the back with a twin mattress on top of it. The box will have a front compartment (towards the cab) for two deep cycle batteries and my 2200 watt inverter (for the on-board microwave) and then another area for more storage section. The left half of the box will hold four action packers. A tail gate will fold down for duty as a table/shelf for making lunch etc. Thanks all.

Hey Pete,

I've got one in my truck and have since new. I love the carpet kit, when I first got it I slept in the back without a platform and it makes it a lot nicer than being back there without it. Also, since I now have a platform I find it nice to have the sides of the box carpeted when I sit upright and read before going to bed. In addition, I think it insulates the bed some what, compared to not having it. My truck with the carpet kit and camper shell is quite comfy.

Also, the carpet is durable has hell. Mine doesn't show any wear yet. So, in short I recommend getting the kit. fwiw mine cost me $340.

Hope this helps.

If you are building a sleeping platform I wouldn't bother with the bed rug.
Save the $$ for padding and carpet you will be sleeping on.

Thumbs up to the bed rug.
I have had one for a couple of years now, hauled bricks and debri on top of it and its holding up great.

Hey

Thanks for the input. Even with the platform, I like the idea of the sound deadening properties and maybe warmer in the winter, I use the twin mattress for the real comfort. Next will be how I want to line the aluminum cunstruction (Unicover pro) topper (insulation and covering material). I think I will get the bedrug.

Carpet kits are cheap and have great storage capacity but it also helps when your bed is 8 fet long.

I have had a bed rug for 3 years now. I love it! My wife was hesittant to camp in the back prior but now no problems. It's also great to use the bed as a play pen for the kid when were out camping also. We also get comfortable there when going to the drive in...I will definitely get another one for my next truck.
