Best camping chairs under $50

I've finally had it with the cheap, fold up, made in china, sold at wally world chairs. I bought 2 identical chairs, used them 3-4 times and both broke, in the same place this past weekend. So what are others using for under $50 per chair? Please, hold the weight watchers comments to yourself....:eatchicke

We got our chairs at REI about five years ago and they are working great still and have been abused. If you have a problem they take them back with no questions asked.

I would give them a try first.

I second going to REI. We have a Flagship Store here in Denver so they have a large selection. I picked up a couple of these this year and absolutely love them. The most comfortable camp chair I have ever owned. The back cushion is adjustable and it has a nice carry strap. Only $29! They are a lower sitting camp chair but it's what I prefer. I just set my 8 gallon action packer next to it and it's the perfect drink and snack holder. If you want something taller they have a bunch of chairs to look at. And as mentioned, any problems and you can take them back.

After breaking a ton of the accordian type camp chairs, (even the fat boy ones...) I decided to try these. The dont pack up quite as small, but they are WAY stronger. I think I paid 26 bucks each for them in the stores. Its also nice because they sit up straighter, better for eating at a table :)

Very timely post.

After my family's recent summer road trip, I would love to find a camp chair in this price range that is off the ground and packs up small.

The two accordion style chairs just take up too much room.

When doing field work I just grab one of my daughter's little chairs because they are so small, but they do take a beating over time.

Very tempted to buy a pair at this price ($49.99/ea) but they're just too bulky, folded up. Comes in other colors too.

We bought two last year: they're awesome. Definitely relaxing in style. We even use them around the pool when we have company. Our neighbor bought some knockoffs for the same cash... no comparison to Cabelas.

Only major negative: bulky when folded / difficult to transport.
