Ah, hah ! Thanks, Craig. So, they finally got their act together. For what they are, it just amazed me there was nothing protecting the finish.

Thanks for the head's up that the new ones come already coated. Mine are in pretty nasty shape. I might consider new, since they come coated, and put those poly bushes on instead of the rod ends. I wonder if it's worth it to get them rebuilt and revalved a bit stiffer . . . ?

The new 7100s come clear coated from the factory. Like you, I had older 7100s and had to hit mine with a clear coat (after removing all the surface rust that had accumulated).

I believe you can order them with custom valving. Rebuilding them is pretty easy. SeaRubi linked to LWGs rebuild/revalve guide. I liked my fronts as is, but wished the rears were a bit stiffer.

Hi Craig,
Thanks. Yes, I had heard that there was firmer valving available with a rebuild than offered new. I agree about wanting a bit stiffer valving for the rears, too. Thanks about mentioning the link. I'll have a look. I think Rovertym used to have something, too.
