Best Suspension Lift/Upgrade for Nissan Hardbody!

Hey guys!
I'm looking for best options new suspension on my baby!
The front end seems fine, but I have cranked on the T-bars to get a about 1.5" over stock. I'm really thinking that the rear end needs help... The stock leafs are pretty droopy and tired. I'm thinking about OME HD springs/shocks. This should give me a little lift and a better payload, as well as better flex on the trail (the stock springs seem to flex fairly well!)... I really don't want anything over 2". Just trying to make it a plain and simple weekend trail rig! Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks everyone! (and ignore my license plate haha!)

Hey man!

How much load are you looking at carrying? OME springs are fantastic in my experience. I have a set on my Frontier, and I've had OME springs on a Land Rover. They carry a load very well, have good flex, and ride well on the road. The design makes them very flexy.

I think you have one of the best looking D21s around.

Well thank you sir!

It probably took me about 5-6 years to get rid of the rust issues and body work to get her this nice (on a high schoolers/college kid's budget haha!)...

But at the most, I will have 300-500 lbs. in the box (one four-wheeler or two dirt bikes). I was thinking about OME springs, or springs out of a V6 pickup. They are a little bit heavier duty then the ones the put in the 4 cyl. pickups.

A set of HD OME Dakars will give you around 2-2.5 inches of lift and 500 pounds extra load bearing capacity. They'll be ver noticeably stiffer, but will still flex very well. The MD springs will add around 250, but only lift an inch, so those are best to use with extended shackles. Those will be softer, but still firmer than stock. I actually prefer it to the factory feel. Feels a lot more robust.

Well you do good work! I was very impressed the first time I saw the truck. That ARB looks killer on there.

Thinking about larger tires too?

Well right now, I'm running 235/75/15, which is stock size I believe.

I ended up getting the near-new set of 6-ply all terrain tires for $40. So I'm defiantly gonna try and burn these up, as they are a very good all terrain tire (for $40!). If I do go bigger, it will be a 30/9.50, because I don't have a whole lot of power to push bigger tires. Last summer I had some old, bald 31/10.5 6-plys on her, and the lack of power was pathetic. And I really don't want to regear it.

Do you know where I can get some price quotes for those OME MD springs? Those seem like they would fit the bill quite nicely.

And your Frontier is looking awesome!! I'd love to get my hands on a factory Navera snorkel!

Haha I'd love a factory snorkel! Those things are sexy. Mine is just el-cheapo. Looks cool though!

A 30" tire would work really well for that truck. And it would look really nice. $40 for a set of tires is a hell of a deal though!

I'll check into where you can get them. I know you can get them from 4x4parts.com for a pretty good price, but shipping to MT is atrocious. I'll let you know. Maybe Rugged Rocks has them.

EDIT: I was a little confused, it appears that they offer a MD spring, which is stock weight capacity (probably a little bit more) and gives 1" of lift. Then there's the HD kit, which adds like 800 pounds :wow1: weight capacity and gives around 2-2.5" of lift. Both Rugged Rocks and 4x4parts sell them. For some reason Rugged Rocks sells the springs individually. I'd still go with RR because 4x4parts will shaft you with shipping. Rugged Rocks is a great company to work with. Steven is the man!

i had a 96 hardbody for a short time that had the torsion bars cranked and i think an AAL kit on it. it looked good, but they ride kinda harsh that way.

this was it, never really did much with it, sold it when i realized it wasn't going to do what i wanted to do with it (wasn't comfortable for long trips):
