Best way to lift trailer 8 inches?

Cyclone.1983

Observer
Attached is a pic of my trailer....I need to get an additional 8 inches of lift to fit my stock jeep rubi tires/wheels under it. I thought longer hangers, but cant find any long enough, thought of making a block 8 inches, is that possible? I know nothing on the subject so sorry if dumb question but you guys have such a large group of trailer owners I thought id ask. (also putting on a bigger stronger axle in case anyone wonders)

Thanks!

That looks to be a typical short trailer spring - very hard little flex bounces all over off road.

a new axle is 4" OD so a spring over setup adds 4" height Vs spring under

get some YJ or suzuki jeep type long supple springs, don't re-use the little ones

use some new higher mounts

Add a longer rear shackle if required.

if you can't find suitable springs from the 4x4 crowd pop to the local pick and pull - some minivans use longer springs

add and subtract springs to get the spring rate you want

add a couple of shocks to control the movement

Longer springs with more arch,
Spring over axle mount and tall spring mounts like a bantam trailer.

How wide is the box? If it's a 4' wide box, move the wheels to the outside of the tub instead of underneath it.

I cant move them to the outside, it has doors that open on the sides and would block them from opening. I get the using longer springs w/ more arch, but how do you tell if they have more arch? Just if theyre longer?

Drop axle would get you 4 inches. I think that's the max drop anyways, might be worth a call to the manufacturer.

I have the same Apache trailer. I am fixing to do the same thing to this spring. I am building a new trailer, the Chief box will attach to it. It will also be removable to use the main trailer as a flat bed and use the camper on my car hauler. The aluminum chassis can't support the modded suspension too well, so I am building a new frame out of 2x3 ret tubing. Here's my trailer on the CJ stock. I will be running stock JK wheels on it to match the Wife's JKU.

Note to others these trailers are 1961 models (give or take a couple years).
