Big Bears Oldest Fire Lookout

A few weeks ago two friends and I rode up to Bigbear without looking at the weather. And during a lul in the storm we rode up to keller peak. However when we got to the top it was cloudy and started raining so we were forced to head back down.

So this time i made sure the weather was nice and this weekend my girlfriend and I rode up to big bear on my harley and did some more exploring of Keller Peak. The ride was awesome and the views were stunning. Definitely recommend it to anyone in so-cal looking for a weekend adventure. The ranger also informed me that you can volunteer and stay the night in many of the fire lookouts here in California which sounds awesome.

I go to BB every year for family vaca. We always make a stop here! Except last year the road was closed which sucked.

Yeah its awesome! A member off another forum shared this with me. Wish i had known this before. But apparently there is wreckage from a B-26 plane just below the lookout.... Just an excuse to head up again and do more exploring!

I wish I knew more about it when I lived out there. My parents still have some property in BB. I miss the area. Hope to make it back out there soon

Definitely head back up there if you get the chance. I try and get up as much as I can.
