Big Bend National Park

Howdy all! I just got back from an awesome excursion down to Big Bend National Park in southwest Texas near the Texas-Mexico border. The trip was phenomenal and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. We spent most of the weekend backpacking the South Rim of the park (13 mile trip) and also enjoyed a number of the park's wonderful four-wheel trails, in particular the Old Ore Road, River Road, Black Gap Trail, and Glenn Springs Road. Wow, talk about a blast! More about the trip will be told in the upcoming issue of JPFreek ( www.jpfreek.com ), but I've attached a few photo links to wet your appetite. ;) I definitely recommend visiting Big Bend at least once if you haven't done so before. Take care, and happy adventuring!

Big Bend is a beautiful park. I can't express how much of a gem the park truly is, and with nearly 900,000 acres to explore, the opportunities are limitless. I can only guess that the reason why the park is one of the most seldom visited parks in the U.S. is that it's far from everything. The drive from Houston to Big Bend was 11 hours. How crazy is that?! Anyways, I definitely look forward to sharing the whole trip experience with y'all in the next issue of JPFreek so I'll keep you posted. Take care!
