bilstein 5100's or OME springs for fj front bumper?

the wife has decided that she wants a front bumper for her truck. the fj has 73k on it right now and has always sat a little high in the rear. i would like to level the truck out so i could run 285's as well as support a new bumper. i'm goin gto build the bumper so let's say 100# extra on the front. no chance of a winch.

which would be better for my application? the adjustable bilstein 5100's or a set of OME coils. for those in favor of the coils, should i go with the 885's or the 886's? i don't want something to soft and have read some good things about the 886's handling the extra weight quite well.

as a side note. has any one had any clearance issues with 285's on stock wheels?

pics of fj bumpers would be great as well. thanks again.

I've had 885's on my 08 for almost 2 years w/ an arb bumper and am happy with the set up. I don't really have anything to compare it to though. A buddy of mine runs 886's and says they're a pretty stiff ride. However, his sits a little more even (front to back) than mine does.

For what it's worth I ran the 885's on my Tacoma dc and they sagged enough to warrant 886's. They were stiffer but the ride is still good. No heavy front bumper yet but that should help. (CBI's at the powdercoaters)

i'm back and forth on the 885's or 886's. if i would be driving it, i would go with the 886's and be done with it. but, this is the wifes ride. i'm toeing the fine line between no sagging and too stiff of a ride. like i said before, i'll be building the bumper so it will be pretty stout. my just go with the 886's and give them a shot. i think that she woudl be able to deal with the stiff ride better than it ending up with the same rake it has now.

another question. which shock to go with the 886's and the bumper? it has 73k on it and could probably use a set anyway. open for suggestions. thanks again

I have the 886s on the front of my FJC. I still have the stock bumper. I like the firm ride, but your wife may not. I used OME shocks with the coils.
