Driving to work the other morning, I hit a pothole on the freeway & I heard a loud "klunk". About 30 seconds later I realized that I felt like I was going to throw up (this is going somewhere) like I was seasick. I realized that the rear of my gen. 2.5 was bouncing BADLY. I Had to slow down to 50mph and pic my line carefully as I continued on the last 10 miles if my commute. I pulled into the shop, climbed under the rear end and saw theat I had sheared one shocks & bent the top of the other SEVERELY!!
Bought a set of mono max shocks for it, mounted them up no problems, other than forgetting to take pics. Wow, what a difference! I knew the shocks were toast, as every time I went over the "traffic calming devices" in my neighborhood the rear end felt like it was bottoming out, but I didn't realize that one shocks piston shaft was already broken, and it was just a matter of time before it went defcon 1.
The ride is so much better, and next week I'm going to replace the fronts with the monomaxs'. Im going to wait to go off-roading until I replace the fronts but I imagine the ride will be great. The original shocks had 180,000 miles on them so no surprise there.
Going to start fabricating sliders for it next week, and look into retrofitting a bumper/winch laying around in my works junk/storage yard (mostly junk). Much more to come!
