I heard about this book a long time ago on NPR and forgot about it, but just stumbled on it again today and will be ordering it yet. So I haven't read it yet, but I thought I'd throw it out there because it looks good.

From there, I also found these:

I Love Dirt!

and Sharing Nature with Children I and II

I might just order all 4.

I love one of the quotes in there "No Child Left Inside" :)

My wife has a couple of those titles. She is doing her Graduate work in Environmental Education, emphasizing in getting youth back outdoors and letting the discover the adventures of such. Good choices!!

Not quite where this thread was pointed, but given the forum it's posted in I'm going to take the opportunity to mention a book that my Aunt found to extremely helpful in dealing with her right-handed, right brained-ness. Too bad she didn't find out about it until she was an adult. HTH someone.

The Richard Louv "Last Child in the Woods" as mentioned above is a very compelling book-as a teacher I see what he describes on a daily basis.

I highly recommend it. I have been buying it for all of my friends who have babies.

Not really a parenting book, but when I was a kid I received "The Swiss family Robinson" as a gift. That one book instilled more of a sense of adventure in me than any other single thing my whole childhood.
