Another trick worth its weight in gold....
Cut a round jack base out of two layers of marine grade plywood and store it behind your spare tire. I usually use two layers because with one I tend to break through. Having it behind the spare tire is generally a good spot because if you need the jack base generally you need the spare tire.
The round jack base works great for either a high lift or bottle jack. You can even use one of the stud holes from the spare tire mount to bolt the hi-lift jack foot to the wood jack base. This keeps the hi-lift jack from sliding off the wood when things get slippery.
I am always looking for small nooks and crannies to store stuff in. Sometimes it hard to remember where you put stuff though
