Thanks for the info. I know I will need to find that sweet spot in the RPMs.
If I go back to stock gearing I will adjust tire size somewhat to help keep the RPMs in the ball park. It's currently on 32's although I suspect they are actually something more like 31.
Really I think the best thing I can do for it in terms of mileage is to spend some quality time on the tune up.
This is all going to be somewhat new to me. I know what the "everyman" knows about working on cars and perhaps a bit more. But with the exception of tearing down the engine on my first car when I was 16, basic maintance, and some basic repairs, I don't have much in the way wrenching experience.
One of the reasons I am doing this is to learn. I have always wanted to do my own work and now I will have/get to. Luckily I have a good buddy who does know his stuff and who owns a 72 Blazer. I plan to buy him lots of beer.
