Brake light issue

My driver side brake light was out so I replaced the bulb. After the replacement with the driving lights off the brake light doesn't come on when the brake pedal is pushed. If the driving lights are on the driver side rear brake light illuminates but doesn't become brighter when the brake pedal is pushed.

Looking for a way to start trouble shooting this. Any help is much appreciated.

May want to post this over on Dweb (almost certainly want to search it there). I seem to remember my 94 having a similiar issue a long time ago (that was 2 Discos ago), I ended up having to redo a harness of sorts-it was a PITA. Hopefully you don't have that much of a systemtic issue.
