It's definitely worth while. Any additional weight pushing you down a slope is a bad thing off road. On the road it might not be completely necessary if you keep it light, but I still like being able to stop in the same distance with a trailer as without a trailer. Any trailer, no matter how light will increase your stopping distance. Sometimes just a couple of feet can make a BIG difference in an emergency stop.
