BRAND NEW (sort of) Marine Corps KLR...

Another thread got me looking up motorcycles at the Government Liquidation (the company that handles Department of Defense auctions) website, where I came across this item.

I was going to keep it to myself and see what I could do, but realistically there are 2 things wrong with that tack:

1) I'm not a "mortocycle guy"

2) I lack the funds to become a "motorcycle guy" at this time, so...

Here is the link to a crated 2000 model year Marine Corps KLR650 with 3.2 miles on the clock. Presumably it was one of the last gasoline-powered ones they took delivery of during the transitions to the diesel bikes, and so has sat unused for the last 10 years.

Auction starts tomorrow(midnight tonight, actually) at $150 and ends 2 days later on 11/19/09 at 5pm eastern. Enjoy.

EDIT: Doh! I see this had been posted for a week now in the "FOR SALE-Expdition Vehicles" section.

Just great the gov pays lots of money to develop and purchase the diesel KLR then sells them at action.

This is one of the last gas ones delivered, I believe. They changed to diesel in the same year this gasser was delivered. I don't know what mods were made for the military, other than the paint, but the original acquisition cost on these were $6,518.00 each 10 years ago. The bidding is already up to $3600 with a day left on this 2-day auction!
