Aux Fuse Block install

Well I was looking at Barlows Aux Fuse Install, and decided to do my own for a 1st gen. The first thing was to find the correct area.
image8.jpeg
Then make a cardboard template to fit in the area. Here is the stainless all cut out.
image7.jpeg
The really cool thing was I used existing threaded holes to attach it to the fender
Here it is bent and installed.
image9.jpeg

I then put the circuit breaker and blue sea aux fuse block on top of it and I have room for three relays on the side.

Rigid LED Install

With the fuse block installed I then wired up the new Rigids.

I found the perfect place to put them on the bumper reinforcement with two plates.
Here they are attached.

With the bumper reinforcement secured.

Here are the lights installed

Well I got an opportunity to get some gen 2 slide rail deck ties for free. So I figured that I would install them on the bed sides for some more tie down locations. They ended up fitting perfectly under the shell.

LED Lights Truck Topper

For this weeks project I ordered up some LED strip Lights, a double pole double throw switch, velcro, and a magnetic switch. The just came in the mail yesterday. Time to get busy on the next install. LED lights in the truck topper. :)
Here they are aren't they pretty?
p 1.JPG

Cut the velcro in strips to match the size of the LEDs. Then stick it to the roof. If you don't have carpet you should be able to stick it to the topper. This is what they look like installed.

Here is a piece of Aluminium angle for the magnetic switch for the back door.
photo 1.JPG
Drill some holes in the Al angle to match the switch, then drill holes in the door frame around the window, attach with pop rivets

Here is the magnet installed.

Completed install. I used the N/C or normally closed circuit. This means that it makes contact as soon as the magnet moves away from the switch.

Now for the switch. I cut out and bent up a piece of 18g steel to bolt onto the existing screws on the back door. Then installed the double pole double throw switch. This fit here just perfect. :ylsmoke: Flip the switch down to turn on when the door opens or flip it up to turn on anytime. Now if I can just figure out how to put a timer on here so my daughter won't run down my battery. Humm sounds like another project.

Here they are turned on! :victory:

Man you almost need sunglasses on. J/K they are bright enough to see though.

Thanks I got the idea from another forum. So far it is holding up. The LED strips are really lite, I am curious to see how they are going to do off road. Only time will tell.

Rims

Good morning people,
My rims have been wearing on me for a while now. I have not liked the factory silver color. Sooo I decided to paint them. I choose the graphite color from VHT paints. So I sanded them with a red scotchbrite pad, removed the wheel weights, taped the tires and painted. It was real easy. I added some accents to break it up a little. Here is how they came out. What do you think?

Wheels look great. Makes me wish I had not sold mine..... I also wish you made a second set of sliders for me.... I can not find bolt on sliders for our trucks.

Bay area metal fab makes them they are located here. That is of course if you want to pay the price. I just happen to have all of the stuff to fab them up so I made them :sombrero:. Anyway I keep thinking about buying another set of rims for matching spares. I see them all the time on craigslist. Thanks and have a great day!

Well it has been a while since I posted and I have done a couple of projects. First off is the suspension upgrade. I bought a pair of used Icon 2.5 Coil-overs and installed them. Then a weird clunking noise developed. After ordering the rebuild kits I commenced rebuilding them. Sorry it was late and my hands were covered in shock oil so no write up. I also installed the icon add a leafs in the rear to level it up. These made a drastic improvement over the factory springs. No more bottoming out :wings:! For Christmas I got some 7 inch HID lights. You know what that means, yup more fab time. I think they came out pretty good.

Future projects
  • Finish lightbar. Dissemble and paint, reassemble.
  • Ham install
  • New tires 235 85 R16
  • Build front and rear bumpers (summer project)
  • Build roof rack
Well that is it for now. Until I think of something else.
