The wifes Garmin nuvi poped off the window mount and cracked the screen. It's less than a year old so i'm gonna email them about getting it fixed or anew one under warranty. Anyone have any experience with their customer service?

I've never had an experience with their CS, but I have the same problem with my nuvi. If it gets hot outside the suction cup will let go. Looking into a permanent mount for mine.

I have had to deal with Garmin CS twice. The first time was right after I bought my 60csx. I knew very little about GPS units and the software needed. I picked up a map update rather than the full version. The store I bought it from would not take it back as it was opened. Called Garmin, they said send it in and they would send out the full version. I was impressed. They did not have to do that.

The second time my backlight stopped working. Called, they told me to send it in. So I did along with everything that came with it (CD, cable, SD card, etc). I only got the unit back. Called again and they said I shouldn't have sent everything in. I know that now! But they were very helpful and did end up sending a CD and SD card but no cable yet. Even though it was my fault for sending it all in, I was disappointed they kept it all.

Overall much better CS than many other companies.

They said to email proof of purchase ofcourse I threw away the reciept two weeks ago. I bought it at Circuit City which has since folded up. So they said that we could send the bank statement from when I bought it on the debit card showing the date, store, and price. So hopefully I can get it fixed

Garmin did right by me a couple years ago. I wish more places would take a note from them on how to make customers happy. If they are still operating like that you should get good treatment.

I bought a garmin many moons ago. The internal battery stopped working after a few years and when I called them, they replaced the unit for no extra charge even though I no longer had my original receipt.

I sent them the gps and they in turn sent me a full replacement (gps, cords, manual, etc.) and not just the gps unit.

About the only thing I don't like is having to pay for pretty much all software updates POI's, etc but then again I can't fault the rest of their support.

Quick update. We got an email friday from Garmin saying to mail it in and they'd fix it or send a new one in 12-15 days. Didn't have a reciept but thet took the bank statement as proof from e=when I bought it with the debit card. The statement just said I spent aprox $275 at circuit city but not what I bought. So I'm impressed they honored it. We'll see how quickly it gets fixed. Ohh and their email said not to send anythin except the unit to them. No cables or mounts.
