Broken leaf springs

I have 2 leafs broken on my drivers side on my 05 f 150. I'm not going to have the money to fix it for 3 weeks. I have c clamps on them now and they are still spreading, any suggestions on what I can do to do a temporary fix.

What leafs are broken and where. It's not safe at any rate a hard brake situation can cause big problems if its a main leaf. It can also break at the center.pin and.cause the peices to.fall out.

I would not drive this thing 3 feet. If you loose the broken pieces of the leaf spring driving down the road your most likey going to loose the whole rear axle.

Park it.

If there broken at the center pin you should park it. I have wrapped a pack in dcut tape to get home but can't say I'd.do.it.if.im already home.

To clarify, if the spring is broken at the center pin, and walking out, that will leave the u-bolts that hold the axle to the spring loose, and that is no good. If the spring is broken outside the U-bolt area, and therefore the U-bolts are staying tight and holding the axle to the spring pack like they're supposed to, then you may be OK to drive it. If that is the case, I would jack it up and put the broken piece back in place. Then use a few hose clamps around the spring pack to hold it in. Alternately, duct tape seems to do the trick too. (Hey, I was once a poor broke college kid with two broken leaves and snowplowing that HAD to get done!)

The u bolts are holding the pack to the axle. I get paid every 2 weeks and junk yard springs are about 200. Spring place said it would cost 300 to fix the spring pack.

If you have to drive it duct tape is the only thing I have county that keeps them from falling out. Not saying its safe but many have done it.

I tried LKQ in Leominster. I have to call the dealer and find out which springs I have. They said a set would be 150

Don't risk killing a minivan full of kids.

Park it and borrow a car or ride the bus to work.

While you wait for $$ tear it apart and find a pair of new springs.
