Building my trailer.

I thought I would throw some pics of my build process. The Family and I like to camp, but didn't want to spend the money on a prebuilt trailer so we have been piecing this thing together slowly over the last 2 years. So, by the time 5 more years pass it will be done.

This is the day we brought it home. Picked it up for $250. A 60's studebaker champ bed on the frame with a 3500lb MH axle.

First thing we did was put 6 bolt brake hubs on, no brakes yet. That will come.

Found me a nice heavy duty aluminum job shell. I have learnt in this process that when your dealing with a bed this old everything has to be custom made or really hard to find. Took me 6 months to find a shell that was close enough to use. Had to widen the tailgate area to make this slide in right.

Built a bedrail from 1/4" x 5" because my shell is 63" wide and the bed is 72". I also wanted to build a rack for my tent to go on top so I have some room on the outside for that.

I gotta put a new floor in, the original steel was all rusted out. But this will hold a lot of gear and keep it dry.

I used a rack that I previously built for the RTT and got it setting on top of the shell so I can build my uprights tomorrow.

I will update with more pics tomorrow.
