Bushnell ONIX 400 for 99 bucks!

Yeah man! Im stoked. Looks like it's going to be a great unit. I have an XM subscription already. My plan is to strap it to the handlebars of my enduro so I can listen to tunes in the backcountry and find my way home!

I guess it's too late now...

...But shouldn't this have been in the GPS forum rather than the Toyota forum? ;)

Years ago, when I was riding my motorycle, I remember thinking "someone needs to come up with a GPS that will show the weather systems so I can route myself around them."

Well, looks like someone did! :D

How does this work? I am an XM subscriber, is there an additional fee for getting the weather info? I've been looking for a new GPS and had been leaning towards one of the screen-type units (like the Garmin Nuvi) but because I need something that will work both in the truck, on my motorcycle and in my hand, I'm thinking something like this might work better.

Would be very interested to hear any product reviews from any of you lucky enough to have snagged this deal! If I had seen this yesterday I think I would have ordered it ASAP!

My apologies. I posted it over here to simply share a great deal with my fellow Yota-heads. If you look in the GPS folder, I posted my GPS question in the appropriate place.

Anyways, It looks like a great GPS with some really cool features. Im not sure if there will be an additional charge for current XM subscribers. I will find out soon and post my review in the proper place :D

XM costs...

Martin,

As far as I could tell in an hour of research to see if I was buying one, yes it costs extra ~$9 a month for weather, you also have to add XM programming costs if you wanted the radio part too.... there was something posted about length of time the gps must be on to get radar tracks? to work... I didn't fully understand all of it, but I learn much better with it in my hands...

The maps are unlimited downloads for $30 a year

at least that was what I could figure out.

Where did you get all that info? I would love to read up a bit before it arrives.

Lots were from the 8 pages of Woots forum

I also Googled Bushnell ONIX review and found a couple of sites too... REI, GPSreview and Amazon.

I always take on line reviews with a grain of salt, unhappy users are always more likely to leave a comment than happy ones.

PS you can download the manual from Bushnell's site... I read a lot of it last night too ; )
