Bushwacker cut-outs for the Tahoe

So, I have a question for you guys and gals. I threw up a stone today and cracked my own windshield again. After this, and the tire rubbing issue I have I am seriously considering cut-out flares for my tahoe. I even found a NIB set on craigslist for 200 vs the 500 new. I'm worried that they will stick out too far. For my year truck they stick out 5 inches. Here are some picks of them on similar body trucks. Let me know your honest opinions. A pic of my tahoe is at the end for reference. In addition to this situation is the fact that the dana 60 and 14 bolt I am building are 2 and 4 inches wider respectively than what the tahoe currently has installed. Thanks for any insight.

I think they look just fine. I'd go for it. 2 and 4 inch wider axles sounds like you have a rear dually axle. If it were me I'd swap the front hubs for dually stuff, and then run hummer wheels. Otherwise you will have to use two different wheels/spares. Or cut down the axle.

I would definitely go for it. Especially if you are putting wider axles underneath. Some states require that you shield the exposed (beyond the wheel wells) tread of your tires so, with you going with wider axles, it may be mandatory to have wider fender flares.

Thanks guys and gals for your advice.

Actually dually rears can be narrower and dually fronts are wider, and I have neither. I have a dana 60 front that is ford center section with GM outers putting me at 69.75 vs the 67.5 that my hybrid 44 is. My 14 bolt is a van rear with disc brakes with the integrated drum-in-hat ebrake. This van rear is 70 vs my 66.5 current rear axle. The set is matched within a quarter inch, but wider than what I am running now. My current wheels will work just fine and I am not changing them. Trailready HD17s are some of the best wheels I have run and the beadlock works great and they balance easily, plus light weight. I will never go back to 16.5s, tire selection is pretty much nonexistent.

I would give it a shot. Especially for that price you found on Craigslist.

If not for that, another option I think could look good is a tube/steel fender like you see on some Jeeps. Would have to be a custom job, but if you can't do it, I'm sure someone local could build them.

Like this.

You could vary the width to whatever you want, and they won't break when cold, or when bumped into something. (I've heard the B/W's aren't the "tuffest")

I'm heavily considering going this route myself on my Bronco vs just trimmed with no flares.

I've thought about the trim and no flares as well, but like the additional coverage of the flares. The tube and plate models wouldn't be hard to setup as well but like you said for the price...

Love the Tahoe, mine is red though....
I would go with the flares, you are sitting wide enough you should do it, especially for 200, if you don't pop on those send me an IM, I might.
