C Shackle and Spring Bushing

I have read enough to know that the c shackle on the passenger side (right) has reversed threads at the spring and that I can buy a kit for each side.

Questions - Mine to take no grease and may be froze. Should I back off the grease fittings and spray PB blaster in there for a few days? Not sure how easy they are going to come apart.

Once I am able to get them out, is there a bushing in the spring and will it be ok to reuse?

I want to replace the front (need the part number if anyone has it). I think I read that it is pressed in like a lug nut and that it could be driven back out with a punch. Would the install be the same with C clamp etc to press it into place, or will the castle nut be enough?

This is listed from a m38a1. I believe we have been told to use the ones from a cj3. Wonder if these would work - look stronger...

bump...can anyone comment on whether the spring bushing typically needs to be replaced? Also looking for the right part number from the front replacement grease bolt

The spring shackles, bushings and related parts for an M38A1 will be fine.

This manual for the M416 should answer your questions regarding how to R&R the springs, shackles and bushings:

If you would rather order from a human being than on online catalog, contact this company. I did business with them when I was restoring my '46 Bantam T3-C and they knew which parts were needed for the WWII and Korean era military 1/4 ton trailers, and I would presume the Vietnam era M416 trailers as well:
