Hi all,

My wife and I had an opportunity to visit with Tim from the Great Canadian Expedition Company at the Calgary Outdoor Show yesterday. Tim's brother, Steve, is often on this board with the username GCEC.

GCEC had one of the busier booths at the show with three rooftop tents and a lot of really cool and unique gear. They did a great job of setting up the booth - every tent was accessible and had all kinds of people trying them out.

They also had a Bushwakka trailer there - what a setup! It's on the larger then something like an Adventure Trailer, but is it ever stout. More room than you could ever need and the tent configuration basically made it into a house. Great for longer adventures! It also had a great kitchen setup.

I also got a chance to take a good look at the Hannibal tents. Very nice construction, very strong ladders and my wife particularly liked the optional room/shower skirt. I am sure they will sell out of tents soon enough...

It's great to see products and vendors like this in Canada! Here are a few pics. Thanks again for the hospitality Tim :)

For the rest of the show, it was much better and bigger than last year. I was quite disappointed with some of the tourism board vendors. Out of all the provinces that had a tourism booth, the only one that actually knew anything about their province was the people from Ontario - they actually worked for the government as upposed to just a hired hand. I was very disappointed with the Yukon booth. They knew virtually nothing about the Dempster (e.g., I think it take a couple of days or something to drive...!) Otherwise great displays, helpful people and enough samples of facial razors (they were a sponsor) that I'm good for a year.

Pete
