1993 NAS Defender 110 Td5 Station Wagon #27/500 restored by Rovers Works, Ramona, CA and maintained by The British Garage, San Diego, CA. $85,000

Restoration took 2 years and was completed in July 2009. Have only driven 25,000 miles since then. New and used parts used to build this superb vehicle. No expenses spared. California registered as diesel. No more SMOG tests ever!

Interesting truck. I would guess it is a rebuild of a burned/badly damaged one - there is so much non-NAS on it (like the entire dashboard and AC).

Haters gonna hate...

FYI, this is a pretty well known truck in the defender community, and one of the nicest 110s around, NAS or otherwise. A TD5 dash and AC are better in every way than the stock NAS '93 110 set-up. I doubt the seller will have any trouble getting his asking price.

Oh I'm not hating - it's just that the distinctive NAS 110 dash is an iconic component of that model and part of what differentiates them. Also, I'm not a midget so have trouble fitting my long legs under that dealer-fitted AC ductwork but sit just fine in a spec NAS-110. :p

Seriously, $85K, I could build several "unstoppable, go anywhere, travel rigs" for that money. I know, it's a 110; however, that's my point. For 85K you could find a low mileage late 1990's-80' series LandCruiser or and early 100 series - send it to TLC, etc, etc, and still have 35K in your pocket! With factory air, and a similar loyal crowd. For that money, you could buy a newer model UniMog, and ship it ready to run anywhere...no hating, just stating "My Opinion" - peace, you'll...

yeah, you could do a lot of things for the asking price of this rig. But guess what? People get that kind of money for them. Know why? Because other people are willing to pay it. Now let's suppose you built up the ultimate super-cool 80 series yota - how hard would it be to sell? I've seen a few very nice 80s here for higher prices and people always seem to rip the seller a new one on the asking price.... 'I've seen Bob's 80 for $10,000 less....' So I guess that's not a winner either.

Build what you want. It's your money. The Defenders bring the money they do in the US because of rarity. I doubt anybody pays that sort of money for one anywhere else. it is what it is.

Don,
You are correct. Again - I wasn't hating. Just stating my opinion about the balance of $$/to/Purpose. We bought our 88 FJ62 to get us home. We got called lots of names. The wagon now has almost 300K on the OD. It's been wheeled hard and serviced. I know when Arnold S., bought and converted the H1, into a Street Legal 4X, that people with lots on money will alter the field for the rest of us. You are also correct that the Defender's have a cache... If I had that amount of "Spare" pocket cash - I'd be looking at other vehicles.

Not that this helps the discussion much but the asking price is above $85K. That is the starting bid with a reserve on it so true asking price is not known but it's above $85K.

Didn't mean to sound harsh; I understood where you were coming from.
I'm not a Yota man myself and I really dig the D90 and the 110, but I do have to admit they aren't worth the money they bring in the US. To tell the truth if I wanted the best bang for the buck I'd just buy a new Rubicon. It would out-wheel anything else for the money short of rolling your own.
(insert comments about how overpriced a new Rubi is in 3...2...1...)

But if I had the unlimited wallet I just might build a D90 up. Everybody's got a Jeep or Yota...
