Probably Chris Solis. IIRC he was up that way last weekend with another guy from NCLR doing some scouting for trips later in the year..

............................................photos or this only happened in your happy dreams...................twice.

Saw it on Saturday headed north on hwy 89 and Sunday at the 89 and Donner pass rd light. Had a green disco leading it both times. No pics due to staring at it and not thinking of taking a picture. I see cool rigs up here pretty often just not a Camel truck.

Thanks. Both times were in the morning and they seemed to be headed north. Maybe they're looking at doing a trip through the east sierra slope to the Nevada side. I did a trip on all dirt roads towards the Ruby mountains with the exception of crossing pavement in places.

I believe you. I'm just jealous I did not see it even once.

Milton is a great free camp spot and has some decent size Brown Trout and late season waterfowl if the roads clear of snow. Did happen to stop in at the Donner Summit Museum? Norm has a wonderful collection of summit history and awesome stories. Another favorite is Faucherie Lake, its bit further of a drive but totally worth it. As I said originally I see pretty cool rigs up here pretty often but seeing your Camel truck was a treat.

I just realized that I may have commented on your post of a Sierra trip from Sonora to Nevada City. If this is the same person then your on the right track. The road that goes across the Jackson Meadows dam heads to Hwy20 and the road that heads west from the Milton camp goes to Nevada city. I used to take it west then north to Alleghany. I hope to see you up here again.

Still bummed I missed that trip last weekend...

Chris is planning a trip from Mendocino National Forest to White Rock Lake north of Truckee for August with as much offroad as we can find. Last year, we went from Nevada City to White Rock Lake over a few days, but this year we are hoping to extend it to a full week adventure.

My favorite Solis pic I took in Death Valley 2013:

We had 3 CTs on that trip in 2013:

Yes I found White Rock a while back and love to get up there. I've done the drive from 20 into Milton and it is also very cool. I think I have my route for the summer trip done, just fine tuning where to stay and how to break the trip up. Now that spring is here and my truck is running well I plan on more impromptu trips to that area. I'll try to post up when I'm heading up. As they say local knowledge is worth more than gold!

10-4. I'm more than happy to share any and all info that I've experienced over all these years. Is your friend with the green Disco a Truckee local? One thing that I noticed this year is that there are a lot more fell trees across roads than normal. We had two big wind storms come through this "winter" that did some damage. It's illegal to drive on Jackson Meadows Rd when snows on it but know problem this year. I camped at Milton on the last weekend of Waterfowl season.

Side note my dad is selling his '99 Disco Trek #7 if you know of anyone that is interested.
