Camo patterns/ options for South East

It's getting close to Deer season in SC and NC won't be far behind. As I mentioned in my scope thread I am getting back to the woods and hunting after being away for too long. I've been looking at Cabela's, Bass Pro and Gander lately to get some camo and honestly the amount of choices are huge. The last time I hunted I used hand me down camo that I think came from an Army/Navy store.

The woods in NC/SC are mostly pines, often swampy and have some cypress, oak and cedar-less so the further west you go.The hunting is from tree stands and blinds. The main areas I will hunt are coastal NC and SC. The early part of the season can be summer like-hot,humid and buggy but late season can get damp/cold but it never gets frigid like those of you in the mid west.

Any help narrowing down the choices and suggestions are very welcome!

Nothing???

OK-I guess some real tree will do the job. Does the bug/tick blocker material work or is it hype?

Try ASAT camo. I have been using it for the last 20 years. It isn't mainstream but it works for me when I need camo (mostly I don't use any camo because my shots are typically over 150 metres but I digress).:coffee:

choose function and quality before pattern. If you're in a tree stand, the camo pattern isn't that important. What is important is how the clothing performs.

Cabela's had Scent Lok Savanna on sale so I picked up some pants and a shirt. That will hold me until late October than I can add some underarmour and later a coat.

Can't wait till mid september when the first hunt has been planned.

100% concur with this, particularly if you're talking about deer hunting from a static position. Turkey hunting...different story.

Camouflage is an interesting and somewhat contentious discussion in some arenas and in terms of hunting it really depends on what you're hunting. Personally for hunting game I'd go with something that performed well in terms of keeping out the cold & wet as much as possible.

If we want to get into a broader discussion of positive/negative space, specific camo patterns, ghillie suits, etc...that's a whole thread unto itself.
