camp oven

Anyone use the little camp oven from coleman? The one that sits on top of the burner. They look small but you could fit a pan of cornbread or something in them. What are your impressions? Any tips? Also does anyone make a better one?

Coleman oven

Many years ago I had the original model (steel) with a single burner Coleman stove. It worked fine for the size. I did everything from smoking fish over a small fire to backing wild berry tarts.
I believe the new one is aluminum which of course will not handle as much heat nor hold the heat in quite as well, but will be much lighter.
You might try a Craigslist or Ebay to get a deal.
Let us know if you get a current model and your opinion.

I've baked in the fold up Coleman ovens. No complaints, seemed to work quite well. I've since moved over to Dutch Ovens but the Coleman oven is a better alternative with a stove or fire without charcoal.

Coleman camp ovens work surprisingly well (mine is old and well used, didn't know the new ones are aluminum). The thermometer isn't particularly accurate, but close enough for camping.

A "low buck" option is a cardboard box oven. These actually work better than the Coleman stovetop version.

For something really over the top, try this from Cabela's:

Coleman also makes 'stand alone' propane ovens now, that don't require a stove.

I haven't used one...

I saw that cabelas one, it's a beast. It would be nice if you had a trailer however. Biscuits in the morning, cookies at night, now that's camping.

I've had good luck with Camp Chef products for a long time now. I personally just use a dutch oven.
