Camper Shells, locked inside?

Alright, I'm sure this has been covered on here somewhere, but I could not find anything with the search or skimming through thread titles, so my apologies in advance.

We're getting ready to head out on our next trip for 2 weeks and one issue that's been raised about staying in the shell when in more public areas is the ability of someone to simply turn the knobs and lock us in. I know I could still slice the screen and slide out the side, but to me that's rather inconvenient...

Some of the ideas I've considered are a rod threaded into to two knobs to either pin them in the open place to the window/door, or to connect the two together to keep them from being turned and locked. Also considering adding a simple interior lock just for piece of mind for the wife.

Any other thoughts/ideas/photos? I know most of us don't really consider such things, especially when camping in a place where it's unlikely for anyone to stumble across you, but it's worth considering for us since primitive campsites might not be the most convenient spots to find without resorting to "pirate camping"

My SnugTop came with an inside latch in case of emergency exit. It works whether locked or not. Perhaps the manufacturer of your shell offers something like it. That was one of the first questions I asked when I bought the shell...how do you get out in a hurry? :sombrero:

I was thinking of the same thing on my LEER Contractor cap with solid barn doors. It now has a padlock hasp because the owner before me lost the keys...Its aluminum so I have a can opener taped in the inside :hehe:
