Jimbo,

Nice setup - I am looking for something similar. Can I ask you a few questions?

How do you like the rear tent?

How big/heavy is it when packed?

How easy/hard is it to set it up?

thanks!

Right up in my neck of the woods.

You can drive Henness Pass Road (dirt), it's the old stage coach road, from the dam at Jackson Meadow Lake all the way to Camptonville and pick 49 up there.

Or you can drive back from Bowman to Meadow Lake, where they used to stage the Sierra Trek events.

You know we weren't there over the weekend, but by friday-IT WAS GETTING CROWDED, it's Jackson Meadow Reservoir, with RVs !!

--We hit Lake of the woods, JMR, Bowman, Weaver, Meadow and ALMOST White Rock Lake-still deep snow !!

:campfire: The Nissan "Hatch Tent" is truly remarkable, it does a fair seal to the back of my Xterra and is 10 x 10 x 9

--It has a rain cap with an awning, but you don't need the awning, just the rain cap, which closes the top peak NET and it keeps the temp inside much warmer, it has (if it's not attached to your vehicle) two main doors and two main windows ALL with full screens and full cover zippered flaps--

--There are easy zippers ALL OVER and all the external zippers have rain flaps, it has a nylon strap hanging from the peak center, for your lantern, they are truly multifunctional-

--We usually sleep inside my X and use the attached tent for eating (mosquitos) dressing or using the latrine--

--

--We have also used it as a free standing tent when we're not in HEAVY bear country, we just take the queen sized TRUCK BEDZ mattress out of the X and use it in the tent, pretty neat

--We take a little longer to set it up, because my wife insists on a tarp underneath, but the INITIAL set up time, after you've done it a few times-is 15 minutes, but you have to buy new stakes, because the ones supplies are garbarge !!

Here it is in it's duffel with accessories bag total weight about12 lbs

15 years ago Meadow Lake was "crowded" on weekends with 10 groups of people camping and fishing.

Now once the snow has gone it's full all week with RV's and 5th Wheels, and this is a Lake that takes 45 minutes on dirt roads to get to. The Forestry Service set up a camp host and long drop toilets as the place was getting so crowed.

It takes longer and further on worse trails to get away from the madding crowed. I wonder if high gas prices will change anything?

One year I lost my wedding ring at Meadow Lake, my wife still says that I did it on purpose...

--On another note, here's a pic of my n1974 Dodge Ramcharger on a 1975 GMC 3/4 ton chassis-Fully lifted chromed, modified-this was in 1980 (something)

Great pics, Jimbo....
We were up camping fathers Day weekend just outside of Yosemite and ran into snow banks in the back country at 8200 feet and 89 degrees out.
