If you were on a scout owned camp, I'm surprised they let you keep the truck there with the trailer unless you also had your 12V fridge in the truck or needed to keep the trailer hitched for stability, security, etc.
All the scout camps I ever went to as a leader for 10 years required that all vehicles be moved out of the campsite areas. Troop trailers and on most occasions the tow vehicle for said troop trailer were exceptions. One time I had to show the camp ranger my ARB fridge in the back of the truck, explaining that'd it'd be rather inconvenient to hike out to the parking lot for all my meals! He agreed and let my truck stay in the camping area!
Reason for the 'rule' is to keep the campsite just that, camping and not glamping so to speak. All good IMHO.
