For those who may be interested, I saw these on Cabelas website again tonight. There appears to only be about 15 or so of these serving sets left....so good luck to any interested.

I ordered on the 17th and got the "backordered" notice today. Are these good enough at this price to hold out for the backorder to fill or should I take a refund?

Strange. I ordered on the 18th and just got the e-mail this morning that mine shipped yesterday. Free shipping to retail locations rocks!

Spoke with Cabelas yesterday, as they changed the status of my order from in stock ready to ship, to backordered. They indicated that stock is now depleted but if you have an order placed with them, they should be able to ship it on July 25. Appears there is a small set that are not yet at the warehouse, and thus the shipping delays.

If anyone hears more, let us know.

I ordered on the 17th, they shipped UPS on the 18th, with ETA of the 24th. Will let you know when it arrives. If I don't like it, I've found my son-in-law is a bottomless pit of need for camping goodies and hand-me-downs.

If it weren't >300 miles round trip, that would be cool. We're getting a Sportsman's Warehouse here in Flag, so Cabela's days are numbered for most of the guys that I know.

Plano Molding Company, announces, the purchase of Doskocil Manufacturing's Doskosport Outdoor Division effective immediately. The Doskosport product line includes Gun Guard, Bow Guard, Cargo Golf and related outdoor products. This acquisition represents a significant expansion of Plano's existing line of outdoor products, which includes Pro-Max gun and Bow-Max bow case, along with a growing range of shooting sport cases and accessory storage. The acquisition does not include any part of Doskocil's pet or other businesses.

Plano's President Peter Henning remarked, "Plano's product development capabilities and strong line of existing products coupled with Doskosport's great products allows Plano to create an enormously compelling line of outdoor products. We are excited about our ability to provide our customers branded products that consumers will truly love."

Doskocil Manufacturing has entered into an agreement with Plano to provide manufacturing services until production is moved to Plano later in 2007. "Our main goal is to provide the same uninterrupted high quality service levels our customers have come to expect from Plano," said Henning. All Gun Guard, Bow Guard & Cargo Golf items will be manufactured by Plano by the end of 2007.

My wife and I bought one at a Sportsman's Warehouse (which by the way is no longer carrying them and only had one left). We had really high hopes for it.

We had a bit of time so we went right out to the truck and put our stuff in it. My wife hated it. It only fit small plates (she like to bring a platter) and things just didn't seem to come together for us. The only positive was that it could hold the camp stove inside.

So we went back inside and replaced it with a simple Action Packer (we were using an old container that needed replacing up until then). She absolutely loves the size of AP she picked and it fits everything with room to spare. She's happy so that means I'm happy.

So from my time with that box, I wouldn't recommend it.

I called Plano and they will not be manufacturing these.

I just got the call from Cabella's about them being discontinued. Guess i'll have to figure something else out. I remember my grandpa had a sweet one he built out of wood...might have to go that direction.
