No it cant, You have to mod it with aftermarket bumper, bigger wheels, lift it, roof rack etc and I am just kidding :sombrero:

Look at this nice video when a couple with a stock Jeep Wrangler unlimited drives from Europe through Africa 14 912.9086 miles (24000 km)

They wrote " I just put on BF Goodrich tires - that's it, no more modification had been made"

"We made 24000 km across Africa and did not have any problems, no punctures, no technical problems"

Payload, I have a payload of 545kg in my 2013 unlimited Rubicon in Sweden. The driver and full tank is not included in the payload. What is Your payload for Your Wrangler and what stuff do You bring that exceed payload

If I have alot of people in min I go for light camping stuff.

You can easely put 4 Helinox chairs and 2 tables under the backseat and alot of other stuff.

Helinox chair 0.94kg each look here http://expeditionportal.com/field-tested-helinox-chair-one-and-table/

It goes about 3 Helinox chair on one small ordinary camping chair

I also have the REI alu table, very small

New camping stuff to the left, in this order, Expeed 5 lite sleeping madrasses, small sleeping bag, Helinox chair, the same for the old stuff to the right.

Trailgater table, great for cooking

Front runner interior rack makes it easier to pack stuff up to the roof and hides stuff under.

I made a movie about my setup and se it in 1080 p

As You have small children in the back You can probably go with a raingler net at the roof for added storage.

I wrote this on a another thread:ylsmoke:

Some say that the Wrangler have insufficient payload for overlanding, I just hade to count. My 2013 Rubicon unlimited have a payload of 545kg, 1201.52 pounds.

We say for two people for 20 days without gasstations, shops, water etc, a rather extreme situation.
1 passenger = 75 kg
2 Helinox chairs =2kg
1 Helinox table = 1kg
2 madrasses Exped 1kg
2 sleeping bags 4 kg
1 Fridge 40 liter 16kg
Water 100 liter. 2.5 liter a day for one person. 5x25 =125kg
Tools = 20kg
Personal items = 20kg
Medical bag = 1kg
Tent = 4 kg
Food = 30kg
Kitchen stuff = 10kg
Petrol 100 liters 5x25 = 125kg
Extra battery = 20kg
Solar panel = 5kg
Total for 20 days for 2 people= 459kg (1011.92 pounds).
My payload 545 kg-459kg= 86kg
As I am 86kg (about 189.6 pounds) under the payload I can bring a lot more with me.
You can increase the payload if you take out the rear seat.
I dont know if I have forgotten som vital heavy stuff here but I dont think so.
So the payload is more than sufficient for overlanding with 2 persons in a Jeep Wrangler unlimited for 20 days without any possibility to get supplies.

How will the roads be?

If the roads are bad, new tires and a winch might be a good bet. With the weight of the winch, swap to Snyergy Springs 1" ---- will increase your payload too.

The Sahara comes with very poor tires for traveling offroad. Other than that, have a good trip. Post pictures for us.

Are you planning on bringing your lodging (tents) or staying in hotels? My primary concern would be your ability to fit your kit for four people in the JKU and still be comfortable. It can be done depending on how conservatively your family packs. The back seats suck for extended travel days; my teen (who rarely complains about anything) took issue with them after the second 12 hour day on the road.

I second that you should at least consider a set of A/T tires over the stockers. They get the job done on mild stuff, but there may be some drama.

I would also recommend new headlights. Take your pick of the numerous LED options available, they are all a significant improvement over stock. IMHO, the simple bulb replacement is exactly what you'd expect for 10-20% of the price of a proper upgrade.

They get different headlights in Malaysia than here.

I have 2 teenagers son and I have order the Ursa Minor jeep camper that allow us to sleep on there and we need supply for 4 people in 30 days . http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/members/49699-Omar-Brannstrom did you upgrade your suspension for the load?

The Ursa minor jeep camper will probably decrease your payload, I dont know how much. A thread here http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/81780-Ursa-Minor-Pop-Top-Jeep-JK?highlight=ursa

You wrote "we need supply for 4 people in 30 days " Do You mean all supply like food, water, fuel and that would be difficult, but from Malaysia to China there have to be a lot of places to resupply with water, food and fuel etc, I am just assuming that? The video I showed before, the couple wrote that the could resupply with water, fuel so they did not have to use the spare fuel they bringed with them through Africa.

My calculation was only theoretical so I have not tested it and I have not uppgraded my suspension in my former 2 door or my current 4door. I have only done short camping trips.

We were 4 big adults in my former 2 door Wrangler on a campingtrip with a hitch carrier and did not notice any problem with the suspension and 2 door have less payload 450kg something.
