Can Gen II Montero seat cushion swap?

Anyone tried swapping in a good passengers side seat (less worn but same year and color) onto the drivers side seat base? Are the cushions basically the same left to right?

Also, has anyone swapped in heated seats from a pick and pull? Is it just a separate sub harness with relays and switches, or is it part of the main harness?

The driver and passenger are similar if you're talking both manual seats, I don't recall if they are identical. My gut is telling me that they are different, but you could probably make it work with some trimming... power seats are quite different.

The heated seats could be swapped over, but it is a bit of a pain to separate the leather from the foam cushion.


Check out this post, I recently added bouncy seats to my 99, and disassembled the seats. You might fight some of what you're looking for in the videos. I also have some extra seat parts in my garage that might be of use if you have questions, I can snap some photos.

The foam inside the lower cushion on the manual seats Gen 2 are the same from drivers vs. passenger. I did a swap from a couple salvaged passenger side foams and put in driver sides when I did the seat re-upholstry in both the '92 & '93. Donors were a '97 & '99 IIRC.

As far as the heat goes, buy a new kit from Amazon. They are not very expensive.

I couldn't find it when I was looking. Might be available from Mitsubishi, but I bet its expensive. I'm about 2 years into the '93 re-upholstery using the salvaged passenger side lower on the drivers side, its my daily and really shows no deformation since the refresh. Boy oh boy do I like the seat heaters (amazon).

Got a link to the heaters you use? I like heated seats, but not a fan of the seats in my gen2.5 in general. Have some other seats hanging around i'd rather use. But would need the heat.
