EDIT: I am not dying in the middle of know where as the title may suggest, do NOT be alarmed!

Hey everyone, I need some quick info though, my office just got me 4 of these containers for a project but because we will be in remote locations for extended periods of time. Me and my colleague are wondering if we can put pure water into at least one of these and keep it for a backup.

Also, if we can use it for straight gasoline.

It only specifies kerosene on the side but does not talk about any other liquids and safety. My main concern is having the inside lined with a coating that could pose poisonous to us while we are way to far from civilization and phone service.

Thanks!

Reason being the "very fast" is we are leaving soon! If I can share what we do I will be sure to post some pics!

I don't know if you can, but I think that you shouldn't. If it says Kerosene on the side then that is what it should hold. You don't want to be in a situation where somebody grabs the wrong container. That could go badly in all kinds of ways. The idea of putting water in one and gasoline in another identical container is pretty scary. No mater how you mark them, it is not worth the risk of confusion.

Isn't it pretty standard that fuel goes in red containers and potable water goes in blue? I'd say stick to what is most recognized and avoid any confusion.

If they were clearly labeled though and they were all holding water anyways though. I am building a concrete platform and they will all be holding water but I would like 1 at least on this trip.

I just wanna make sure there will be no toxins in the plastic

I don't have any specific knowledge about toxins, but I have to think that the gaskets were made for fuel or specifically kerosene.

These are cheap enough that you should get water specific containers for potable water.
