Can i use this for my duel batt set up?

I am slowly putting together pieces to run a dual batt setup. My primary interest is using it for winching and self jumping. i found some stuff in my garage from my old car stereo days that i think might save me few $$. It is all Stinger brand stuff and in perfect condition. It is for car stereo stuff but i dont see why it would not work well for this as well. First off i found a 80 amp breaker that i had coming off the + lead. Is 80A enough if i will be winching or jumping or will that just pop a 80 amp breaker? I thin it would work great for accessories like a fidge. This 80A breaker has about a 1 foot section of high quality 1ga cable on it that goes to the batt. then it has about 12 feet of the same nice 1ga cable coming off it. It is a nice high quality cable with good fine strand wire in it. this leads to a nice Stinger fuse box that has 4 fuses in it. I had two 8 ga wires leaving that. I figure that would work well for accessories.

I figure i could at least use the 1ga cable for my duel batt setup. The fuse block would work great if i wanted to wire accessories in the truck. Just run power to the fuse box and then out from there. But what about the 80A breaker? will that work coming off the 2nd batt to the main batt?

Lol...it's "dual" as in two, not pistols at dawn "duel".

I am all for saving old parts and stuff, but get over it. Other that your breaker, none of your crappy old wiring for your stereo back in the day is going to be a good substitute for thinking about a good system an implementing a good charging/isolating set up in your truck.

Winching and jumping will both require more than 80 amps, but it will supply a "house" fuse panel just fine.

The 12 feet of 1 gauge wire will likely be something you can use, so don't throw it out. Post up a wiring diagram for what you plan.

If you're feeding a house panel, 80 amps may or may not be appropriate. It all depends on the panel and wiring you use.

Honestly, since it's already paid for, I wouldn't toss it, but I also wouldn't plan my project around it. If it happens to work - great! If it doesn't, then just get the right parts.

I'm not familier with Stinger brand stuff, but generally car audio gear (at least back in the day when I actually cared about such) was fair quality. Not the best, and usually overpriced because it was sold through specialty shops for stereos, but that doesn't make it junk. I'd have no problem using it, though it might look a little bling powering your 2nd battery. :)

The hardware you've got on hand sounds like it would be good for powering a house panel, but as pointed out 80 amps isn't going to run a winch. I think goodtimes summed it up well enough above - use it if you can but don't design around it specifically trying to save a couple bucks.
