CARB Cans suck...or: Good Hand Siphon Pumps?

I also use the bass pro shops version of the super siphon. Found out about it from another buddy who uses it. Has been so effective that 3 other local wheelers have asked me to buy one for them since I live close to the BPS.

At ~ $8 it's hard to beat.

We all know the CARB cans suck for vehicles. After a ton of searching I found this.

It came with one of my small 2 gallon cans. It is a funnel meant for when you use the can to fuel a vehicle instead of a lawnmower. When I used it, it worked, but took FOREVER (read over 10 minutes) to empty the can. After looking at it a bit I had an idea.

First, when you look at a CARB spout, you can see the hole for the air to go back in the can (to releave the presure/vacuume build up) In the photo below it is the hole in the middle.

I measured up the "funnel" attachment and found where the hole would need to be on the funnel, then drilled it out.

Then slide the "funnel" over the spout, making sure the hole you drilled is lined up with the hole in the spout.

When I use this setup, modified like this I don't spill a drop, and the can empties in just under a minute. I don't have any issues at all now. I can drain 4 cans of fuel into the truck faster then I can fill it up at the gas station, :wings: and do it the "legal" and proper way (not that that is important, but coming from my background it is kinda cool when I do it legal)

Anyway, hope that helps folks. Since I have done this I can now find the "funnels" by themselves, usually at hardware stores with the little fuel cans.

I don't understand how they can even sell these containers on the market. In 2010, when America is supposed to be so advanced, why is it even remotely possible that someone has designed and approved these is beyond me.
I have used several types and are a pain to use and they all leak.

Thanks for letting me vent...

...A rubber hose with a brass tip with a marble inside the tip....
It's not a marble. I built a knock off with a few copper fittings and a marble, it didn't work. The whole key to the super siphon and it's cousins is a ball that is very close to gasoline in density.

That said they are the only way to move gasoline IMHO.

This, sir, is a total myth!
Indeed! We are a society of technological traders, trading one technology for another. If we were truly advanced, we would all be teaching our children how to start a fire by rubbing two sticks before we show them how to use a lighter.

What, you haven't??

Oh wait, neither have I. But then, I don't have kids. Which gives me some time to figure out the "2 sticks" thing myself!
