Cargo boxes

Anybody running aluminum diamond plate cargo/tool boxes on top. I'm thinking of picking one of the shallow narrow ones to mount on my truck topper. UWS makes one 58" long by 18" wide. only about 11" tall. it shouldn't be too much of a wind block.20210704_170545.jpg

at high speeds would indeed impact MPG

as well as posing a huge danger

not just raising your truck's vertical center of gravity

but fatally flying forward in the event of a sudden stop

yeah; don't do it.

although i really like doing business with Zoro.

one of the plano style gun cases might be a better choice. stuff heavy enough to need diamond plate should be down lower. stuff more valuable should be locked under layers or left home.

Mpg i understand. don't think the height would be anymore of a problem than some of the plastic boxes is see up there. weight would be lighter than most of them. would be thru bolted to the crossbars so it's surely not moving forward.

I would expect that an AluBox of similar proportions would be a good bit lighter than diamond plate. They come in several "long, low" sizes.
