Cargo Space: 2006 MKiii vs LR3 vs RRS

The sports interior dimensions aren't huge but they aren't terrible either. It loses 5.5 inches from the LR3 in wheelbase so that hurts it. Seats fold flat however and if you're talking about laying down room the raked rear shouldn't matter. I would agree however LR3 is probably going to have the most room. Certainly more than the sport

With my D2 I built a sleeping platform (it's somewhere on this site...too lazy to search right now) and removed the rear seat. The platform folds forward, so with the front seats as close to the dash as possible (rear seat is removed), I can fit a full size air mattress and sleep inside. I also have an SUV tent which makes camping quite luxurious (I don't bother with the tent when it's just me hunting).

So the fact that the LR3 has fold-flat seats is pretty huge. I would love to have a back seat when needed. Now the OTHER reason I built the platform was to allow room for the fridge...which I would need to figure out whichever way we go. She really prefers the interior of the MKiii to the LR3 and the way it drives...and it's probably going to end up being her daily driver for the time being, and just a weekend vehicle for me. Soon (post wedding expenses) we'll go back to 3 vehicles...I get whatever we decide for her now and she gets something else...

I found a "built" white LR3 that she immediately nixed. No "boy cars" allowed if she has to daily drive it (the snorkle is clearly a bit much for her drive to work). She also says that there has been an exponential increase to random guys hitting on her since she started driving my D2...so maybe she's on to something...keep it stock looking!

If you go LR3 a fridge option is to remove the 30 of the 35/30/35 seat setup and put it there-still retain the sleeping inside capability and its a 7 seated you still have 6.

Good luck with the wife, mine refuses to come off her Taco extended cab, and when she does she prefers the built D1 to my 3...which she mocks as illustration I'm getting old and soft.

Sleeping in the truck with a fridge is miserable. I had to do it once last year. They seem quiet when you're awake, but that hum when it's otherwise dead silent and you're trying to sleep may as well be an idling Cummins next to your head.

Haven't had an issue with my little Waeco (or Dometic, whatever they are now). May help that I end up sleeping above it with an air mattress...and the fact that I can sleep through WWIII...
