CB World

I'm writing this because of my experience with CB World. I have NO affiliation with them what so ever, just a recent customer.

I recently purchased my Jeep, which I knew would be outfitted with a radio system. I went CB for now, hopefully HAM before the end of winter.

My local CB store is a little crazy on prices. You walk into his store and its full of junk that looks like it was in the attic for centuries. I use him for testing, but that's about as far as I go with him. That said, I decided to order online.

I searched around a few different online stores. It boiled down to who had the best prices. Honestly, I found CB World in someones sig on here. CB World seemed to have the best prices over all.

The website IMO, is very user friendly. I liked that I got several emails updating me of my purchase. Shipping was also very fast. I had my new radio peak and tuned, so I knew that should take an extra day...but it was still shipped less than 24 hours after I ordered.

The package was delivered this afternoon. It was packaged very carefully, lots of packing peanuts. It also had a security seal strapped across each opening. I appreciated that.

Overall, a wonderful experience. I will order from them again. I do wish they carried Yeasu equipment for when I switch to HAM, but for CB stuff....look no where else.

It certainly is nice when that retailer takes care of the order. I have ordered second hand laptops in the past which have come better packed than the originals would have done.

So are you going to tell us what radio you bought? I'm looking at getting a new CB in the Spring for the Defender ;)

I woke up this morning to find another email from them telling me my item was delivered and if there was any dissatasfaction to let them know asap -of course I would contact them if there are any problems but its nice to get the email from them. This is customer service, IMO!!

I ordered a Cobra 18 WX ST II. I wanted a radio that had NOAA capabilities, and a front facing speaker. I also wanted a smaller than normal radio, not one of these huge semi type radios. Reading online, all sources agreed that it was more about the config of the antenna than the radio itself. You dont need a massive radio to have a good radio. This radio has all of that. Also, it has an external speaker output on the back which makes it even better. I did not know it had a external speaker output prior to purchase.

I had it peak and tuned. There are mixed feelings about this online all of which I agree with. The main point is, you can transmit further but you cant receive from further away.

There is also mixed reading about NOAA capabilities on a CB. The arguement is that 90% of the places you will travel with a CB you will be able to get a FM or AM radio transmission. -and you can research the farcast prior to going out. Ok, whatever, I agree with that. I also have a NOAA radio in my house. If I am out in the boonies and it starts to get nasty out, I dont wanna be flipping through my radio hoping to find a station that will broadcast whats going on outside. I am one to prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I am mating this radio with a firestick. I might also get a wilson antenna and try that out as well.

I hope to get it installed this week, maybe today! Ill post pictures when I do.
