I bought this 05 F350 crew cab cab & chassis back in Sept. I've sold off the custom bed due to some city ordinance issues.
in process adding a pickup long bed
The pickup frame is little different than the c&c frame. Its wider by 3.5", has slight height difference front to back, and is shorter. I had little trimming of the rear lower valance of the bed to fit the frame flat. My c&c has a 4" longer wheelbase so the bed is 'adjusted' to fit over the wheels.
Mounting requires fab brackets to the frame. Stock bumpers and hitch frames won't work. I've got a hitch frame for a 34" wide frame. I need to drill 3/4" holes somehow.
Now, I've got a chance to purchase just a M105 military trailer bed for $300. Its cab to center wheelwell measurement fits real close to the c&c chassis so there won't be any space behind the cab. The M105 trailer frame width is the same at 34". The M105 bed is just over 9' inside (110") so it would beyond the end of the frame. The overall width is nearly as wide as the F350 body (83") and the height is close the the pickup bed's height off the frame. It would look like this picture on the truck (pic of Dodge and not F350).
Then tonight, I found on CL a commercial topper with rear doors for a long bed for cheap ($200).
With the length of the c&c frame and the trimming of the lower valance, I can't use a typical pickup tailgate, so I need a topper with rear doors. The M105 bed measurements of width and height are nearly the same as the pickup. I don't have the measurements of the topper but I know it will be short in length of the M105 bed.
Ah, the delima of which bed and if I can get the topper. I know the military has a slide-in fiberglass topper to the M105. There were 2 couple years ago in gov't liq local to me. They went for ~$1700 IIRC. So there is a topper I could easily use. I've got $250 in the bed, $75 in lights, $60 in wire harness and mounting bolts.
The truck use is for getting around town from time to time and may turn into my commuter and to tow a Jeep on a 16+2dove trailer for wheeling and camping.
