Changes to the MP-ZJ rear bumper

We did this a few months back to our Hanson bumper and I don't think I ever put up pictures on here so I figured the EXPO guys would enjoy seeing this. The bumper was a Hanson ZJ bumper with the tire carrier on it, the carrier never worked well because we mounted a 37 inch tire on it and that just made everything swing a bit. The back end bounced alot on the trail because of all that extra weight so we moved the tire inside the truck and planned our next modifications.

Here is what it turned into:

Right now we just have it laying down and ratchet strapped on the floor. A 37 will fit with the rear seat up in the back.

i love that rear bumper. i may dream up a similar idea. do you plan on mounting the tire on a future roof rack or something?

Physics tells me that they will not be mounting it on the roof rack.

it would be a pain to get up there and leave the COG higher but in the sense of an expo rig, it would free up a ton of cargo room for future interior rack/shelves/drawer systems.

Looks functional Alex... i'd like something very similar.

Build thread on this rig somewhere?

There is no full build thread, but I can get some better pictures and post up all the details on the rig for you guys if you would like. We have been turning it into more of a show vehicle and have been straightening the body, lining the fenders up, and repainting lots of part. Plus trying to get all of the creaks, clunks, etc out of it.

No, at least not for the tire up there. We used to have a roof rack on it just to store camping gear but we this jeep is pretty tall already so we don't want to put any more weight up high.

What kind of latch does the swing out use?

The swing out still uses the latch that it came with from Hanson, I would take a picture but it is being stored out at another shop for some mods right now so I don't have access to it.
