i have my reservations about multi electrodes being gimmicky, but toyota actually specs twin electrode plugs for the tacoma.

That is what is recommended in the manual. Also it helps to start plugs with a rubber hose that fits around the top, it only allows you to screw it in easy without cross threading it. I know it helps on the 3.4L's that I have where the plug is hard to reach and the temptation exists to use an extension on the ratchet to start them.
