Chevy Colarado/GMC Canyon to get a V8

That backwards logic is what is sinking the American 3. Bigger engines, bigger trucks, less sales. If they put a 3.5L diesel in a Canyon they wouldn't be able to keep them on the lot...

The 5.3L engne is a very efficient engine for its size, its why the full size trucks get the same gas mileage as the smaller trucks.

Makes sense. They build the Hummer H3T on the same line.
Now they need to upgrade the Colorado off-road suspension and
tire options to the level offered in the H3T as well. It would be
nice to have the capabilities of the H3T with a body that doesn't
have the narrow windows common to Hummers.

I agree with others that a small diesel in the Colorado would
be a good idea. Maybe the new Duramax 4.5L V8 diesel coming
to Chevy Silverado 1500 and the Suburban SUV can be made
as a 3.3L V6. Actually, the 4.5L diesel is designed to fit anywhere
the 5.3L gas V8 does. But it's overkill in a pickup with an 1100
lb payload capacity.

International has a brand new 3.0L electronic diesel which is supposed to be the cats meow. Its the same engine that is going in the TLC FJ-60 in the latest issue of Overland Journal. Now THAT would be a nice engine in any of the smaller GM truck platforms. Unfortunately I believe Ford and International have an exclusive contract.....Doh! I would buy any small truck with that engine instantly.

Make mine a 2WD and put several sets of extra rear tires in the bed. That would be FUN.

.
I was thinking the same thing. Supercharger and some other mods. Mount up some slicks and tweak the suspension. Man that would be a fun truck.

+1 on that.

I rented a Chevy Luv crew cab pickup (similar size to Canyon and Colorado) that had a duramax 3.0 turbo diesel. Awesome motor that had plenty of power and returned great mileage and range. Man I wish we could get that here.
