Chim's 1987 4Runner Build

Hey everyone, I am new here.. Been watching for just a little while trying to learn about expedition rigs.

I have built a couple other rock crawlers but now with this new 4runner I want to build an expedition 4runner.

Here is what I am starting with (just bought it a couple weeks ago):

Bought a new steering wheel.. makes a huge difference for me with space.

Found a good used ARB front bumper on craigslist

Ordered a rear bumper carrier but it wont get here for 8-12 weeks

Also ordered a rear ARB locker with compressor and trail gear rock sliders.

Right now I am collecting parts.

I still want to do dual cases, dual batteries, larger alternator and more as I research and read

This influx of new 80s rigs from the NW on the forum is great!

You might consider swapping in some manually-locking front hubs (it's hard to beat the Aisins that come on 'em). The auto hubs can get gummed up and not work real well. I believe they're also weaker.

love these things!!! wanted one but i like more luxury so itd be hard to daily it for me i think

I understand wanting more luxury.. I almost wish I would have bought a 3rd gen :/ But I have so many parts stacked up for this that I will just keep going with it and maybe in a few years down the road I will get something new and let my boys roll this
