Chopped tires on Taco?

I rotated my tires yesterday and noticed severe chopping on the front tires.
The tires have 21,000 miles and rotated every 5-6k miles. I have not noticed any shimmy/pull/etc while driving.

I stopped by the tire shop I bought from and without proof of rotations (I do it myself) they said "get lost"

My bigger problem, what should I being looking for as a cause. Both tires were affected and it seems to be equally, the chopping is on the edges (both inside and outside).

TIA

There are likely more questions than answers, but let's start. Front tires will "chop" when there is a signigicant load to stop. Has your driving been more severe lately, pull a trailer, haul bricks, whatever?

If a tire wears on the outsides only, it is likely an underinflated condition. Is the wear on the tread blocks on the leading edge? (Front of tire as the road see's it?) This can be hard braking.

Has it been particularly hot where you live, and/or a soft tread compound?

Do you rally race? Oh, forget it, those guys only use the skinny pedal!

I wish I were faster on my feet- if the shop where I purchased tires asked for proof, I would love to tell them that they just sold me my last set of tires from them. (As in, how does THEIR receipt tell YOU that the tires have even been rotated?)

Thanks and....

I will try a picture, but it looks ok to the eye, it's when you run your hand over them.

I did no a long trip to Nova Scotia, but the tires on the rear (un-affected) were the ones on the front for the trip.... no other odd issues I can think of. Not hot, etc.

These are load E tires - Yoko Geolander AT-S in 235-85-16

Thanks again, I will post a picture later today.

has it been colder than it was a few weeks ago? They may be riding slightly underinflated if you've had a cold snap. It shouldn't be anything suspension wise, that would show only on the worn-out side of the truck. I'd check the tire pressures and start an every 3000 mile rotation to see if that helps. If not we'll try something else in 3000 miles....
