Cigar plug near tailgate

Hello,

I don't pretend to have a real expedition vehicle. I have a basic 2011 Silverado 4x4 extra-cab that I use to tow my hybrid camper around. I am absolutely fascinated with what you all do to your rigs though. It inspired me!

Believe it or not, I scored an Engel MT35 on Craigslist for $75.00. They guy had lost the 12v plug so I had to order a new one. It cleaned up VERY nicely!

I ordered a Powerlet plug and installed it here, near the tailgate. The space was accessible once I removed the rear tail light:

Then, I wired an inline fuse from the battery to a relay. From the relay it goes straight to the plug in the back of the truck:

Then the fun part. I installed a switch in the cab of the truck that I could use to turn the 12v outlet on or off:

The last step will be this weekend, when I install the anchor points for securing the fridge/freezer:

Looks good!
I added one to the back of my Avalanche too:

Now that I have a fridge again it can power it. I have been using it for the RoadPro 12 volt portable stove
This has been very handy for having a hot meal ready when we want it and not need to stop and deploy a full on kitchen.Works great for a little tray of Mac-n-cheese , and or enchiladas :)
